This site is mainly intended to find the people who lived in Glen Nochty.  This is assisted by knowing where they lived and from whom they held their tenancy or tack - the heritor, laird or landlord.  So family trees are included also for the Forbes and Farquharson families who held most of Strathdon, and whose younger children sometimes married into the tenant families.

Also so that others can learn from our experience, the Names page lists some first names which are sometimes used inter-changeably, and some of the many variations of the McHardy surname. 

The following 'people pages' mostly comprise three generation tables showing the known descendants of the first named person or couple, with footnotes.  Where more generations are known, these are shown in separate tables where the previous grandchild becomes grandparent.  Other surnames not covered by the page titles are shown on this page below.
